MESSAGE FROM THE DEPARTMENT HEAD

Welcome to the Department of Biology. Our mission is to advance knowledge about all domains of life by providing transformative learning experiences to students, and by supporting teams of dedicated researchers. As part of this, we prepare BSc, MSc, and PhD students for a wide range of career opportunities in research, industry, government, and other professions. We value partnerships with Indigenous peoples, our local community, and colleagues around the globe. I invite you to explore this website, and to contact me with questions — or better yet, come for a visit!

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

UBC Okanagan offers a world-class, globally recognized degree at a smaller and more intimate campus.

Students can generally expect smaller class sizes and greater access to their professors, while gaining the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research and projects.

We are interested in issues that affect our world: wildlife conservation and soil ecology; plants and sustainable agriculture; and preventing chronic diseases. We have unique synergies with fields like chemistry, medicine, management, and earth and environmental sciences. Our faculty and students are finding solutions to problems with local and global impact, right here in the beautiful Okanagan valley.
